何ですか?俺は反オタクです

Why do 日本人 dislike 熊田曜子 but like 安部晋三? I find that rather strange that people would prefer a right-wing Japanese politician over a cute girl. The possibility lies with Abe actually having a brain and taking a stand on various issues while all Kumada Yoko can do is just look pretty and have people look at her nice breasts. Then again it could be the possibility that there are prettier and less overexposed models out there such as 安田美沙子 and 夏川純 as I have discovered while playing Yakuza very recently.

Then again, the conservative Japanese LDP members may be getting sick of what they perceive as progressive reforms by 小泉純一郎 , who also had a super-happy time visiting the 靖国神社 during his reign. According to news organisations, Abe had a lengthy phone call with President Roh of ROK with plans to have a ROK-Japan summit to discuss regional and bilateral issues. If Abe has at least half a brain, he will keep whatever personal views he has of post-war Japan, and World War II all to himself.

He has publicly stated that certain war crimes never happened, the International Tribunal in Japan was just a farce conducted by the victors and the current Constitution was imposed by Americans. I only agree with Abe on the point about the Constitution, which was drafted by a group of American lawyers who took no account of Japanese culture and history when it was imposed on the Japanese government. At least the Germans were able to draft their own Constitution, albeit with Allied supervision, and the “Basic Law” has worked quite well since then.

Then there is a consequences of incomplete post-war reforms due to the Cold War. The post-war reforms were completed in Germany due to aggressive Allied reform of the country, presenting evidence to the German people of crimes committed by the Nazis, and purging the country of any influential Nazi elements. Few people know that the post-war government passed laws banning the Nazi party and the current German government is hellbent on undermining any Neo-Nazi groups that have sprung up since German reunification.

The same cannot be said about Japan since it was only the Americans who were in charge of reforming the country (although China, Britain, and Russia were part of the Allied nations assigned to reform Japan on paper). It’s quite hard to rebuild a nation after you’ve reduced it to rubble as seen in current-day Afghanistan and Iraq and it was even harder to reform Japan. The Americans realised this and actually took some shortcuts in reforms.

First they tried most of wartime generals and bureaucrats who conducted the war but failed to put Hirohito on trial or even testify to his contributions in the “Greater East Asian War”. It did not help that some of the judges sitting in the International Tribunal were actually anti-American aand some of the accused managed to commit suicide before they were formally charged or sentenced. This allowed the right-wingers to argue that the trial was a sham and argue their wartime leaders were never convicted of any wrongdoing.

Second, the Americans made efforts to reform the Japanese educational system, business practises, and even women’s rights. However, with the onset of the Korean War and Cold War, the Americans started to focus less on reform and more on rearming Japan to use as a shield against the spread of communism in Asia. This led to certain convicted war criminals such as Kishii being pardoned to serve as Prime Minister and in effect allow for some continuation of wartime attitudes to carry over to the “New” Japan.

Additionally, the Americans worked actively with Japanese corporations to undermine any strong labor movements and encouraged cooperation with the state to accelerate post-war economic growth in Japan. This would help explain why corporations had such a strong influence on Japanese society and the influence of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. Basically, the Cold War led America to quickly restore Japan’s independence by returning some wartime officials into power, leaving pre-war problems unresolved and leaving Japan with incomplete reforms. What was worse was that the Japanese government gradually abolished many of the American reforms as soon as they regained full sovereignty of the nation.

This could account for some of the perceived “weirdness” that has made Japan such a distinct culture in East Asia as well as lingering problems that are plaguing the country. Decisions that made a great deal of sense at the onset of the Cold War are now showing unintended consequences that the Americans could not have anticipated. There was no way the Americans would have imagined that Japan would have became an economic superpower from their years of encouraging American companies to liberally provide technical assistance to develop the post-war Japanese industries.

It’s interesting how much information American companies provided to their Japanese counterparts with the belief that they would never surpass them when the Japanese companies were actually able to first emulate what the Americans taught them, then improve upon it and later continuously innovate. The Big Three automakers at the time allowed Toyota, Honda and Nissan to observe their plants and management practises while RCA taught Sony, Matsushita how to properly make TVs. Decisions the Americans made during the Cold War led to greater consequences that what the politicians had originally intended.

It would not surprise me if Otakus or idiot Japanophiles would attack me for being “anti-Japanese” for making such observations on Japan. Then again, I would anger many pro-war Americans and conservatives if I had discussed how the American intervention in Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan have led to the problems that the US faces today.

Dodge Avenger

The Americans can actually make bold, aggressive-looking American cars. The irony is it took German ownership for Chrysler to finally get these kinds of cars onto the market. The Dodge Avenger is what Chrysler did right as opposed to the Chrysler Sebring, which took the worst design cues from every Chrysler model. Although the Avenger looks like a mini-Charger, it does a great job looking like a reasonably priced sports sedan for consumers looking for that Dodge attitude without the gas-guzzling HEMI or steep prices. If only Chrysler were smart enough to do this with the Sebring instead of making it look like a glorified Saturn Ion. Still, it would be nice to see more Mercedes parts and engineering coming into play on future models from the Chrysler group.

After all, Chrysler was able to see its recent comeback thanks largely to “Dr. Z” and from purging the old American management that brought Chrysler to the Germans in the first place. Maybe Nanjing Auto can pull off a renaissance in what’s left of MG Rover or not…

Girls Go For the ‘A-Holes’

What’s the use in being a ‘nice guy’?

Sinan Aladdin, guest commentary

Posted: 4/17/06

The other day in the cafeteria couple of female students were discussing why guys are such “assholes.” It’s not usually something that I just sit down and ponder about, but their chatter left me with deep thoughts, namely (1) Why are so many guys assholes, and (2) Why do so many women fall for them in spite of their complaints?

Now, I have always been the nice guy, the classic hopeless romantic, the one who believes in love at first sight, the guy who will want to save the girl and love her like no else can.

Now, come closer, no, even closer than that, I have a secret: Hopeless romantics get the royal screw-over! Hopeless romantics equal doormat.

What exactly is it about assholes that get women flocking to the them? Let me let you in on something vital. The trait that most women find appealing is confidence.

You see, the classic nice guy is out to please everybody. His confidence relies on making others happy, therefore, his confidence is not truly the result of who he is.

The asshole, doesn’t give a damn about anybody. He’s out to just please himself. This badassness exudes confidence; he’s saying, “Love me or leave me!” This is just the sort of attitude the draws attention from women.

What it comes down to is that women are looking for a guy with a brass pair. This sort of confidence is a show of strength (not to be confused with physical force), and this show of strength is a show of security.

I already know that some people will argue that women who stick with assholes are that way because they were abused when they were younger. While this may be true in a few unfortunate cases, the fact that so many women are successful and are still attracted to assholes shows that they were just attracted to the attitude.

Few guys are born being assholes. It’s something that develops early on. Boy likes girl, boy and girl date, boy and girl break up, boy gets bitter. For whatever reason after that, many guys have a difficult time trusting again. And many become emotionally detached, if not outright insensitive.

The guy no longer wants to put in the effort, trust, time and emotions to risk hurting his ego again. But that doesn’t stop him from going out and getting more women.

Despite his insensitivity and infidelity, this type of guy never seems to have trouble having women fall for him.

Many of my friends of the opposite sex complain about all of the assholes that they get involved with. And of course, when asked why they won’t break up with them, I get the same response: “It’s just not that simple.”

Assholes draw women like a moth to a flame. The moth knows she’s going to get burned but she just can’t look away. The asshole then gets affirmation for his behavior.

So boys, the secret to loving women and getting them to love you back is simple: You have got to love yourself. If you can honestly walk around with out feeling insecure, I guarantee you, no matter how out of shape you are, or out of style you may be, you’ll get some.

Now before I start getting hate mail, I want to add that there are, as always, exceptions. Every now and then, the nice guy doesn’t finish last and gets the girl of his dreams. After which, the asshole steals her away.

The New Audi R8 is revealed!!!

Audi has just unveiled the 2008 R8 — its first ever mid-engine sports cars. Sales will begin in the first half of 2007 for the United States and Europe. The car has a 420 horsepower high-revving V8 engine and all-wheel-drive. It uses the mid-engine Lamborghini Gallardo platform, and will somewhere between $80,000 and $110,000 — positioning it squarely against the BMW M6, Porsche 911, and Aston Martin Vantage. It features LED headlamps surrounded by LED running lights and indicators. LEDs are also used in the engine bay to make the impressive V8 visible even at night.

http://microsites.audi.com/audir8/html/index.php

One of my dream cars has finally arrived as a production version and I am glad they managed to preserve the look and feel of the Le Mans concept car. I am sure they have made minor design tweaks to ensure the R8 will comply with automobile laws and regulations, but it is still what I expected from the production. I have to give Audi and VAG for having one of the better concept-to-production translations unlike the American companies such as GM.

I mean just look at how GM ruined the Saturn Aura by making the wrong tweaks when converting the concept car to a production vehicle. However, the worst concept-to-production translation occured with the Pontiac G6 production, which looked and felt like nothing that was promised in the concept car. The G6 was such a horrible car that it was slammed on Opera the LA Times and their sales only stabilised when GM introduced the coupe and convertible variants into the market.

There is much hope and promise when GM announced that they will make a production version of the Camaro concept, but their production version will be heavily watered down and drastically different due to the use of a completely different platform and cuts so they can sell them at lower price points.

Ford of Europe has improved their concept to production translations as seen from the SAV to S-Max, and the Iosis to Modeo vehicles. However, I can’t really say the same about their American counterparts who for some reason like to water down their production-ready concepts to make them more acceptable to their “conservative” customer base. For some reason, FoMoCo wonders why they are having such a hard time attracting new customers or customers who still use import vehicles…

Facebook is Creepy

It is now official.  We can now invite non-networked people into Facebook in a manner that is similar to MIXI.  Facebook now also has a feature that will scan your AOL, Yahoo. Hotmail and Gmail account for any email addresses that are already on Facebook or to invite.  Soon Facebook will resemble MySpace and it appears that the My Profile page is getting an update since it’s the only page I can’t access at this time.

My life is changing though it is not on Facebook.  However, Facebook, like many other websites is a great way to kill time in the event of downtime at work.  I can use it to mobilise any grassroots campaigns I have established on Facebook, place random messages to check up on friends and even look at their updates to see what they’ve been up to.  However, with Facebook going public, it would be safe for everyone to expect a lot more stalkers to creep into their lives, especially for those who are already popular either on Facebook or in life.

So Yahoo! has a good chance of buying Facebook and integrating it with their Yahoo! 360 service while MySpace is getting completely dumbed-down now that it’s another tool at Rupert Murdoch’s disposal.  I am told Murdoch’s Chinese wife is developing a Chinese MySpace for the Greater China segment while Facebook will get watered down to accomodate more people.  It’s only a matter of time before they make a social networking site for B2B solutions, Swingers, Nazis, and Mel Gibson admirers if they haven’t already.

Prison Break Season 2, Episode 6

Tweener must die. That idiot can’t do anything right. First, he just barely gets the right tools for the dig because he’s semi-literate and second he forgot the gas to run that American junk car the gang is using. Also, he was too slow to realise that the gas station attendant was calling the cops the moment he saw him at the gas pump. Next Monday someone is supposed to be caught and I really hope it is Tweener.

Some would believe Sucre or Lincoln would get caught next week, but I really hope Tweener is taken out of the show. Anyway, in this week’s episode, Michael, Lincoln with help from T-Bag are able to pinpoint the site where the silo was built over and it turns out to be on a garage. Michael gets Tweener to drive back to the general store to get some tools and disguises to enter into the home for the dig. However, Tweener being the retard that he is manages to get caught by the other store manager and only knocks him out after the store manager made a call to the police. What is even worse was that Tweener was just smart enough to return to the gang with the tools but with no gas. We finally saw the “Real Deal” from Tweener after Fox River and boy is that kid retarded.

Despite all of Tweener’s stupidity, the gang mananges to talk themselves into the garage and T-Bag volunteers to sweet talk the homeowner. In the middle of the dig, C-Note and Sucre walk in and demand to get their fair share, which Michael reluctantly agrees to. Both C-Note and Sucre have very little to live for and they really need their share of the money to get through their problems, so it’s a good decision. While they continue digging Michael tells them to register to www.europeangoldfinch.net so they can all keep in touch and coordinate their activities around the manhunt. The funny thing is that the site is active and may have clues to what’s to come on the show.

The founder of the website is KVFinchlover7475, which could be Michael Scofield, and contains threads that may have coded messages or plans.

In the Company subplot, Agent Kellerman finds himself losing influence with the President and forced to report to Agent Kim while Sara’s father becomes suspicious of “Lance”.

Oh, Tweener gets caught by the Feds near the end of the episode because he was too stupid.

Who Killed the Electric Car? and Hard Candy

Two films I saw today were “Who Killed the Electric Car?”and “Hard Candy”, two films that were popular in independent art houses.

Who Killed the Electric Car is a documentary that traces the development of the General Motors EV1 from its beginnings due to California emissions laws to its untimely demise because of the Bush Administration’s support for Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology.  The film concludes that the culprits for the demise of electric cars in our generation were from the following:

  • Consumers — Guilty due to apathy and desire for gas-guzzling SUVs
  • Batteries — Not Guilty because later generations were increasingly efficient and cheaper
  • Oil companies — Guilty for lobbying against electric cars, hybrids and for alternative fuels that would preserve their existing business models
  • Car companies — Guilty for poorly marketing electric cars, refusing to sell to niche segments, and promoting technologies that would ensure profits
  • Government — Guilty for caving into the demands of the oil and automobile lobbies
  • California Air Resources Board — Guilty for repealing regulations that would ensure the existence of electric cars for hydrogen fuel cells
  • Hydrogen fuel cell — Guilty for being promoted as a viable technology when it was never the case

However, there is hope was independent entrepreneurs have developed electric vehicles that have plug-in slots and have advanced electric batteries.  A great example is the Tesla Roadster which is basically a Lotus Elise with an advanced electric motor and the Venturi Fetish.  The next best thing we have now are Hybrid cars, which are also incorporating more fuel efficient electric motors and internal combustion engines to maximise fuel efficiency.  It is safe to say Ford, DCX and GM dropped the ball when it came to hybrid technology unlike Toyota and Honda.

Hard Candy is a pedophile revenge thriller where a girl tricks a pedophile into inviting her over his house.  Once she is inside his home, she drugs him and begins psychologically torturing him over the whereabouts of a missing girl, how he developed his sick tendencies, and torturing him until it reaches a shocking conclusion at the end.  The film has a cameo by Sandra Oh and the title comes from an Internet slang used to describe underaged girls.

Note To Self

The bigger the asshole you are,

the better the girlfriend/relationship.

I’ve seen this in high school

I’ve seen it on college

Zuri was right: “Women are stupid.”  It’s quite ironic how women will allow themselves to be controlled or return to someone who has been established to have mistreated them.  Maybe there is that delusion that they can somehow tame him for the better or that’s what they should expect if they are looking for some fun in that part of their lives.  It would be easy to believe that all I need to do is be an incredibly huge asshole if I wanted to find companionship from the opposite sex although I never wanted to sink to a level or become something I detest.

The jocks in high school were able to date/score with the popular/cute girl of their day while the frat boys were able to fuck/conquer the hottest girls in their campuses.  It’s really frustrating seeing these immature, thugged-out poseurs being able to win the hearts and minds of pretty girls while the normal, intellectual and mature male has to deal with spending their Saturday nights in the company of other single men or get asked out by the same sex on random occasions.  This is not the way our world should be working and it pains me to say this is one of the many reasons I have lost complete faith in humanity.

The Black Dahlia and The Departed trailer

The Black Dahlia was an interested film based on a novel written by the same author of LA Confidential. The movie involves the lives of two detectives who are gradually consumed by the real-life murder of Elizabeth Short and the sex, lies, and drugs that were festering in 1940s Los Angeles. The movie consists of over 2 and a half hours of convoluted subplots, twists and monologues by Josh Harnett as he tries to solve the case and deal with related issues stemming from it.

The Story (Spoilers):

Elizabeth Short and her friend needed money so Dolph Bleichert, a building tycoon who made money by converting old studio sets into homes, pimped Elizabeth out to his friend George Tilden. However, his wife Ramona Linscott, who was jealous his daughter was having a relationship with her husband, arranges to have George set Elizabeth up to be murdered because she resembled her daughter. It turns our her daughter, Madeleine was actually the product of an affair between Ramona and George and Madeleine is a actually a slut who likes to sleep around with strange men and women.

Lee Blanchard stole money from the bank robbery committed by Bobby DeWitt and used it to fund his lavish lifestyle for him and his girlfriend Kay. He was planning on using his partner Bucky Bleichert as the fall guy if he was ever caught with this. This was also the reason why Lee was hellbent on getting rid of DeWitt. Lee is later killed when he attempts to take out DeWitt in a drug deal set up by a mobster he gets his drugs from.

After learning the truth about the Black Dahlia murders, Bucky confronts Madeleine in a hotel room and shoots her. He returns to Kay but is still haunted by the image of Elizabeth Short’s mutilated corpse and the movie ends.

The Departed trailer that screened before the film was quite interesting. Based on Infernal Affairs I predict the following will happen in The Departed:

-Leonardo DeCaprio’s character will die by Mark Walhberg, who is Jack Nicholson’s second mole
-Mark Walhberg will be murdered by Matt Damon in cold blood for killing Leo
-Jack Nicholson will be murdered in cold blood by Matt Damon in a warehouse
-Martin Sheen will get thrown off a building and die protecting Leonardo DeCaprio
-The girl who plays Matt Damon’s girlfriend will learn the truth of his double-life
-Alec Baldwin will kill Matt Damon after learning the truth about him

Interesting Day

I was crazy enough to ask several British business clients about Richard Hammond in the middle of training them to use my company’s solutions.  The sad part was they only knew what was being reported on the BBC, Top Gear and ITV websites and nothing more.

Facebook has become too stalker-friendly in these past weeks and it will only get worse when they make the entire website public on October 1st.  It does not help that Yahoo will be buying them out for $1 billion, which will result in Facebook being heavily dumbed-down to integrate it with Yahoo! 360 and whatever it needs to make it mirror MySpace.

I learned they had dropped the price for PS3 in an announcement made at the Tokyo Game Show.  However, this was only for the core model, not the standard model that I am saving up for.  Let’s see the standard model will cost $600, games will cost at least $50, not sure about the Memory Card adapter, and the Memory Sticks will set me back at least $30.  Worst yet is I will be paying for all of this using my credit card in order to acquire cashback points and to accumulate interest in my bank accounts.

EDIT: I just learned I am still being stalked by crazy people who profess to have no desire to be in my life, yet they still stalk me through my various websites, blogs and comments I have placed on various website.  You people need to get a life!
