UNIQLO, JAPAN’S NO. 1 RETAILER, OPENS FIRST U.S. STORE IN MENLO PARK MALL

September 8, 2005 NEW YORK and TOKYO-UNIQLO, Japan’s most popular apparel retailer and a worldwide leader in casual wear, today announced that the first U.S. store will be opening in Edison’s Menlo Park Mall on September 15th. The retailer will open two additional New Jersey mall stores this fall. To celebrate the launch of the store, already low-priced cashmere will be offered at even lower prices.UNIQLO offers consumers of all ages fashionable, high-quality, value-priced casual separates, with an amazingly diverse array of colors, details, and fabrics. The 10,000 square-foot Menlo Park store will include women’s, men’s and children’s merchandise and will replicate the Japanese shopping experience, widely held to be the most service-oriented in the world, with an attentive sales staff and easy-to-follow sales floor.

For a limited time, cashmere items, made from 100% Mongolian cashmere – considered the best in the world – will be sold at special prices. Women’s cashmere will start at $39.99, and men’s cashmere at $69.99.
Two additional UNIQLO stores will open in New Jersey over the next few months – one in Rockaway Townsquare in Rockaway and the other in Freehold Raceway Mall in Freehold.
The store carries affordable fall and winter fashions for the entire family. Denim, sourced from a renowned Japanese denim supplier that also services many high-end designer brands, starts at $39.50 and is available in a range of washes and fits that can complement a variety of styles. To keep the whole family warm as it starts to cool down outside, UNIQLO offers a wide variety of fleece starting at $10.50, with some styles offered in 38 different colors. UNIQLO also offers a wide selection of fashionable, simple and versatile knitwear. In addition to cashmere, extra fine merino and lambs wool crewnecks, v-necks, turtlenecks, cardigans, and vests can be mixed and matched with wardrobe staples to create the perfect fall look for only $29.50.
